The image that I took of Charlie Slone(the one on the left) depicts a very complicated story. Charlie Slone means a lot to me. When I was having a hard time in grade school, he switched to my school, and became my best friend. I was soon more talkative, making friends, and everything else that you would expect in the ideal social status. After awhile, we stopped being friends…and his personality was changed and impacted by judgement. We then became friends again. Not best friends, but friends. When I was best friends with him, he didn't care as much of what others thought. He wouldn't make fun of people as much, he wouldn't get into as much trouble, he wasn't as disrespectful, but he felt that he needed to be liked by the people he hung around, so he completely changed. Not that he is a bad person today, but he just isn't the same. When I used to talk to him, I would enjoy our conversations…But today, it just feels like there's a giant gap. Yes there are times when I still see the Charlie I used to really know, but it's not that often. That is why I love this photo. What I see in this photo, is a smile of the Charlie I used to know. He actually seems like there's a positive outcome to something. I don't see that much more in him. I took this photo in one of our favorite places, Graffiti Alley. Graffiti Alley is a colorful alley where people add art all the time. It is so vivid and full of life, and we used to love to go there and look at it. It was hard capturing this photo. Most of the photos that I took of him I scrapped. It was hard to actually take a photo that captured his real personality, or what it was to me. A lot of them were blurry, the colors would clash, the lighting was off, but this one was my favorite. I also tried to break the rule of thirds, which is why he is in the right side of the photo. I enhanced the photo to make it look a little more vivid and dramatic by using curves, exposure, and contrast.

This image that I took of my friend, Josh Weiner, tells a very transparent story. Our relationship has always been basic, except for the details in between. Josh and I met over social media, and eventually met in the Shinola café. We then ditched our families and drank over 4 Shinola Colas each. That is why we love going to Shinola's café. Because it reminds us of the very first time we met. That is also why I love this photo. When I look at this image, I see an honest smile of joy from him. It makes me happy to see him smile, because it reminds me of all the wonderful memories we share. I had no difficulties taking this photo, because I can always make him smile. The lighting in Shinola's café is very ambient and dark, so I had to use flash when taking the photo. This is also why I chose this photo for my black and white portrait, other than the fact that I see black and white photos as more meaningful. I also had to adjust the exposure and contrast levels by using photoshop. Altogether, I believe that this photograph is one of my favorites I have ever taken.
